I hope this letter finds you well I am writing to cordially invite you to attend our annual Dragon Boat Festival dumpling wrapping activity that will be held at our school on June 3rd from 2 pm to 5 pm This is a longstanding tradition at our school where students and teachers come together to make zongzi traditional Chinese rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival is a significant traditional Chinese holiday that commemorates the life and death of the famous Chinese poet Qu Yuan who lived over 2000 years ago Qu Yuan was a loyal minister who drowned himself in a river to protest against the corrupt political regime of his time After his death the local people threw rice dumplings into the river to feed the fish and prevent them from eating Qu Yuans body This is the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival and the tradition of making and eating zongzi
At our school we have been holding this dumpling wrapping activity for the past 10 years It is always a fun and meaningful event where students get to learn about Chinese culture and traditions while also bonding with their teachers and peers Last year over 200 students and 20 teachers participated and we were able to make over 500 zongzi to distribute to the local community
This years event promises to be even more special as we will have performances by our Chinese dance troupe and Chinese calligraphy demonstrations in addition to the dumpling wrapping There will also be traditional Chinese snacks and drinks provided for all the participants We believe this is a wonderful opportunity for students to share their cultural heritage with you and for you to engage with them in a meaningful way outside of the classroom
We would be honored if you could join us for this special event Your participation would mean a lot to the students and would further strengthen the relationship between the school and the faculty We understand this is during the school day so we are happy to prov
