He remained anonymous for thirty years， and none of his brothers or sisters knew what he did. Even his father didn't know what he did before he died. The mother looked forward to seeing her son from the age of 63 until the age of 93. At that time， there were no computers. He and his colleagues used an abacus and slide rule to work out thousands of pieces of data. In 1988， when China conducted its most dangerous experiment， Huang Xuhua， 62， became the world's first chief designer of a nuclear submarine to conduct a deep-diving test. Deep-diving experiments are both glorious and dangerous. Before boarding， some crew members wrote a suicide note to their families and some sang “Bloodstained Glory.”. Huang Xuhua encouraged the crew said： “We do not sing this song， but to sing valiant， high-spirited.” Diving to the depth of the design requirements， the ship was silent.
