My Most Admired Person - Yuan Longping
Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you about the person I admire most in the whole world - Mr. Yuan Longping!
Mr. Yuan is a really brilliant scientist who has dedicated his life to helping provide enough food for people in China and beyond. He's an expert on rice, which is the main food for so many people across Asia. Can you believe that thanks to Mr. Yuan's inventions, China can now feed an extra 60 million people every year? That's amazing!
What did Mr. Yuan do exactly? Well, he's the father of hybrid rice! Hybrid rice is a special type of rice that gives a much higher yield than regular rice varieties. That means farmers ca
n grow way more rice in the same amount of land. Mr. Yuan spent over 20 years of his life researching and experimenting to develop the first hybrid rice varieties in the 1970s. It was super hard work but he never gave up.
I think it's so inspiring how dedicated Mr. Yuan was to his goal of boosting food supplies. Even when others doubted him, he kept going because he knew his work was important. Mr. Yuan definitely doesn't do science for money or fame - he does it to help feed the hungry and improve people's lives. What a selfless and noble mission!
Mr. Yuan was born in 1930 in a very poor farming village. Because his family didn't have much money, he had to drop out of school when he was just 14 years old. But he loved learning and was always very curious about the world around him, especially plants and nature. Despite his lack of formal education, Mr. Yuan taught himself so much through reading books and observing the crops around his village.
After the establishment of New China in 1949, Mr. Yuan finally got the chance to pursue his interest in agriculture and science. He worked incredibly hard, often spending 16 hours
a day or more on his research into rice. His wife and children had to make lots of sacrifices too as Mr. Yuan was so devoted to his work. But their support was crucial to his eventual success with hybrid rice.我最敬佩的人300字
Even now at 92 years old, Mr. Yuan hasn't stopped working! He's training the next generation of plant scientists and sharing his vast knowledge. His dream is to keep increasing rice yields so that there is enough food for everyone as the world's population grows. What an amazing and kind-hearted person!
I really look up to Mr. Yuan because of his brilliant mind, iron willpower, and caring spirit. He used science to directly improve the lives of millions of people. To me, that's the noblest thing a person can do with their talents. I hope that when I grow up, I can have even a fraction of the determination and compassion that Mr. Yuan has shown throughout his remarkable life.
So that's why the great Yuan Longping is my biggest hero. He's living proof that with passion, diligence and kindness, one person really can change the world for the better. Let'
s all strive to be a bit more like the awesome Mr. Yuan!

The Man Who Fed Billions: My Admiration for Yuan Longping
Have you ever heard of Yuan Longping? He's this super cool scientist dude from China who did something totally awesome – he helped feed billions of people by developing better kinds of rice! Yup, you read that right. This guy's work made sure there was enough food for a huge chunk of the world's population. How amazing is that?
Let me tell you a bit more about Yuan Longping and why I admire him so much. He was born in 1930 in a small village in Hunan Province, China. Back then, China didn't have enough food to feed everyone, and lots of people went hungry. Can you imagine not having enough to eat? It must have been really tough.
Yuan Longping knew he had to do something to help. So, when he grew up, he became a scientist and started working on developing new types of rice that could produce bigger h
arvests. He spent decades researching and experimenting, trying to create rice varieties that could resist diseases, pests, and drought.
Finally, in the 1970s, after years and years of hard work, Yuan Longping and his team succeeded! They developed the first hybrid rice varieties that could yield up to 20% more grain than regular rice. This was a total game-changer! Suddenly, farmers could grow way more rice on the same amount of land.
But Yuan Longping didn't stop there. He kept on improving his hybrid rice varieties, making them even more productive and resilient. By the time he retired in 2017, his rice had been planted on about 25% of China's rice fields and had helped increase the country's rice production by a whopping 70%!
Can you believe that? Thanks to Yuan Longping's hard work and dedication, millions of people in China and around the world had enough to eat. He's often called the "Father of Hybrid Rice," and he's won tons of awards for his incredible contributions to agriculture and food security.
