海伦凯勒介绍人物生平作文儿英语
Helen Keller was born on June 27, 1880, in Tuscumbia, Alabama, USA. When she was just 19 months old, she fell ill, which left her deaf and blind. Despite these challenges, she went on to become a renowned author, political activist, and lecturer.
At the age of 6, Helen's parents sought the help of Alexander Graham Bell, who suggested they contact the Perkins Institute for the Blind. It was there that Helen was introduced to her lifelong teacher and companion, Anne Sullivan. With Anne's help, Helen learned to communicate using a manual alphabet and later, Braille.
Helen's breakthrough came when she was just 7 years old. Anne Sullivan taught her the word for "water" by spelling it into her hand while running water over the other hand. This moment opened up a whole new world for Helen, as she began to learn more words and concepts through touch and communication.
As she grew older, Helen attended Radcliffe College, becoming the first deaf-blind person to
earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. She went on to write several books, including her autobiography, "The Story of My Life," and became a prominent speaker on the lecture circuit.
Helen was also a fierce advocate for people with disabilities and a supporter of women's suffrage, labor rights, and other social and political causes. She traveled the world, giving speeches and raising awareness about the importance of education and opportunities for those with disabilities.
Helen Keller passed away on June 1, 1968, but her legacy lives on as an inspiration to millions of people around the world.
