As students, we have learned many school rules. But some rules are strange.
No red ink
Teachers usually mark our homework with red ink. The bright color is used to point out the mistakes. However, red ink is banned (禁止) by many schools in Australia and the U.K. Some people think red ink can harm kids’ mind because the color puts pressure on them.
No hand-raising
It’s common for students to raise their hands in class to answer the teacher’s questions. However, the raising of one’s hand has been banned in a school in Nottinghamshire, England. The head teacher of the school believes that teachers always only see the same students raising their hands. This doesn’t encourage the learning of the other students in the class.
No high fives or hug
It’s normal for students to give high fives after a good game at school or simply hug one another after getting good grades in the exam. But a few schools in both the USA and the UK completely prevent the physical contact (接触). They consider it’s bad for students’ performances in study.

The Coca-Cola Company said that beginning August 1, 2022, Sprite would no longer be sold in its green bottles in North America. Instead, all plastic Sprite bottles will be clear. The reason for that is that Sprite’s green plastic has green PET, a material that can’t be recycled into new bottles. The move is part of the company’s greater efforts to become more environmentally responsible.
“When recycled, clear PET Sprite bottles can be remade into bottles, helping drive a circular economy (循环经济) for plastic,” said the CEO of R3CYCLE, a plastic group helping Coca-Cola improve its recycling.
