On any visit to this place, JH, Dual Dragon Caves is a must-see hot spot, which is situated about 18KM almost due north of town.
Geographically, Dual Dragon is a complex limestone cave system, in the wilderness, part of the mountain area.
A limestone cave or cavern is a natural cavity that is formed underneath the Earth’s surface that can range from a few meters to many kilometers in length and depth.
with pure underground rivers and amazing limestone crystal formations, Dual Dragon is among the finest and oldest cave systems in our country.
Visit for a day, or take several days to thoroughly enjoy the awe-inspiring experience!
The path to getting there snakes all its way up through the forested mountain, nearly halfway, you come to the parking area. Get off your ride, take a little bit of stroll uphill of the popular choice, A huge limestone arch of about 70 meters at its highest point looms large. And that’s actually where the tour starts. A few more steps, you’re right in the biggest and highest chamber of all this network.
It feels quite comfortable with an annually average temperature of 15 degrees Celsius
inside. But a small tunneled underground river gets in the way further in, but it’s also the only way to see the other side. All you need to do is lie flat on the boat bed and be ferried through, nose tip narrowly missing the tunnel ceiling. Breath-Catching!
And then you will find yourself in a very different spectacular world. But on rare occasions, visitors don’t realize that they are claustrophobic until they are deep underground.

But Dual Dragon has been upgraded using the latest lighting technology, enabling you to see them as they have never been seen before. The environmentally friendly lighting system uses minimal power and minimizes heat output, conserving the sensitive cave environment. They are well protected for future generations to enjoy.

There are many beautiful structures, mainly including stalagmites and stalactites which commonly exist in all this terrain.

The visual impact of its huge and richly decorated chambers will astonish you. It’s an outstanding experience that as you move deeper, the cave reveals its beauty - high caverns, exquisite crystal formations and legendary underground rivers. As the only narrow passage is mostly level in the lower labyrinth, you can get a glimpse of the gallery of rare and unusual features. With short but steep sets of stairs, the tour goes on to an increasing level of difficulty in the upper labyrinth, which is actually in part an underground waterway, but don’t expect to get soaked because it has been channeled away. What’s really dazzling you is the glorious waterfall cascading down the sheer face of the rock just about 20 meters above your head, with its thundering sound resonating. As you have shinned up the last length of the steep zigzag stairs,
near the exit of the dizzying heights, you can peer back into the Dual Dragon Cave. And that gives you a sense of achievement.
Dual Dragon is in fact the mainstay of all this cave system. When you reach the ground, you have a choice. You can either continue the exploration of other lesser caves or take a walk in the fresh air of the forest. Dual Dragon Caves has several excellent bush walks for you to enjoy in this lovely month. As you wander along the narrow and thickly wooded trails, you are likely to spot some native squirrels and grouses. If you explore these walks in the tranquil period between school holidays, you are likely to have the tracks all to yourself, increasing the likelihood of spotting wildlife.
Stalactite
Essentially, dripping water from the roof of the cave reacts with carbon-dioxide to form carbonic acid. It then seeps slowly through the roof, depositing calcium carbonate, which hardens and builds up over time to form a stalactite.
Stalagmite
Stalagmites are corresponding formations on the floor of caves to stalactites. Stalagmites rise from the floor in a build-up of calcium carbonate over time, from mineral-bearing water dropped from the roof of the cave.
