例如:快乐(happy, delighted, pleased, joyful, enjoyable等)、吃惊(surprised, shocked, amazed, astonished)等形容词或介词短语(to one's surprise, in relief, in panic)等描述人物的情绪。
1】Della finished her crying and dried her face. She stood by the window and looked out unhappily at a gray cat walking along a gray fence in a gray back yard.(小说《麦琪的礼物》中利用3个形容词gray,体现了Della 的难受和不开心。)
【例2】涌上心头sth. well up on me / sth. swept over me
A flood of fear welled up in me.
He was so delighted that he could hardly speak, but his bright smile face spoke for him.
(2) [2020.1浙江 给Poppy买狗作伴] Poppy jumped with joy at the sight of the little dog.
Every time we mentioned the funny incidents of the journey, a pleasant smile would spread over Mom’s face.
With no path to follow, Jane just walked on for quite a long time. After she had climbed to a high place,
she turned around, hoping_to_see_the_lake. (动作描写,说明Jane满怀期望) To her surprise, (利用介词短语体现Jane的吃惊) she saw nothing but forest and, far beyond, a snow-capped mountain top. (寓情于景,体现Jane的无望失落) She suddenly realized that she was lost.
①“Absolutely!” replied John, excitement shinning in his eyes.
句型2:so...that结构
②So angry was the bear that it roared and smacked the fence violently. (so ... that倒装句型)
③You can not imagine how frightened we were at the approach of the polar bear.
句式4:非常…I am more than + 情感类形容词to …
I’m more than happy to learn that you are admitted to Peking University.
的是…Much to my + 情感类名词, …
Much to my disappointment, no one came up to give me a helping hand.

Missus Sommers one day found herself the unexpected owner of fifteen dollars. It seemed to her a very large amount of money. For a day or two she walked around in a dreamy state as she thought about her choices. Her daughter Janie was wearing worn shoes and needed new ones. She would buy cloth for new shirts for the boys. Her daughter Mag should have another dress. And still there would be enough left for new stockings for her children. The idea about how to spend the dollars made her restless with excitement.
On the day she planned to go shopping with the money, she ate a light meal- no! Between getting the children fed and the house cleaned, and preparing herself to go shopping, she forgot to eat at all!
When she arrived at the large department store, she spotted a pile of silk stockings at the entrance. A sign nearby announced that they had been reduced in price a young girl behind the counter asked her if she wished to examine the silky leg coverings. She smiled as if she had been asked to inspect diamond jewelry, and started to feel the soft, expensive items. Missus Sommers picked up a black pair and looked at them closely. Two red marks suddenly showed on her pale face. She looked up at the s hop girl and said proudly, “Well, I will buy this pair.”
Missus Sommers changed her cotton stockings for the new silk ones in the ladies’ rest area. She had l
et herself be controlled by some machine-like force that directed her actions and freed her of responsibility. How good was the touch of the silk on her skin! Then she put her shoes back on and put her old stockings into her bag. Next, she
