I'm more than delighted to be informed that you show great interest in traditional Chinese festivals. Here I feel greatly privileged to introduce to you my favorite one, the Dragon Boat Festival.
Dragon Boat Festival falls on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese Lunar Year. The festival was created in honor of a respected patriotic poet in ancient China, who had great devotion to the people but was unfairly treated by the unwise king of his country. Hopeless and angry, he threw himself into the Milo River to prove his love to his motherland.
Nowadays, people in China observe this traditional holiday by holding dragon boat races and eating zong zi which is made of rice wrapped in bamboo leaves.
In my opinion, as a traditional Chinese festival, Dragon Boat Festival keeps us reminded of the true spirit of honesty and loyalty of our ancestors. By celebrating it, we follow the trace of the forefathers who handed down the virtues.

I'm really glad to receive your letter. As you have seen, many Chinese choose to stick the character Fu on the door upside down during the Spring Festival. This actually expresses their best wishes for the new year. In Chinese, the character for “upside down” sounds the same as the character for “ to arrive” so this means that happiness is arriving. Quite interesting, isn't it?
By the way, I'd like to invite you to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival with my family after the College Entrance Exam.
