高考英语语法热点词解析-suggest用法及考点（附真题分析）
suggest是个及物动词，后面可以跟名词、代词、动词-ing形式或从句作它的宾语。各种试题对suggest的考查通常涉及到它的非谓语动词形式、宾语从句及宾语从句的虚拟语气等方面。下面就结合历年高考试题，对suggest的用法作一小结。
考点一、suggest作“间接表明；建议；使想起”解时，后面可以跟名词、代词或动词-ing 形式作宾语。例如：
①That girl's sun-tanned face suggests excellent health.那个姑娘被太阳晒黑了的脸表明她身体非常健康。
②Mr.Smith suggested a way out of the difficulty.史密斯先生提出了一个克服困难的办法。
③An explanation suddenly suggested itself to me.一种解释突然出现在我的脑海里。
④I have written him a letter and suggested his sending it to the Ministry of Culture.我给他写了一封信，并建议他把它寄给文化部。
suggest后面可以跟“to sb to do sth”结构。其中的介词to不能省略。动词不定式短语to do sth作宾语补足语。例如：
⑤Who suggested to you to do it this way？谁提出要你这样做的？
考点二、suggest作“建议”解，而且后面跟that从句作宾语时，宾语从句中的谓语动词用虚拟语气，即谓语动词用“（should）动词原形”。例如：
①Almost all his friends suggested that he visit Mr.Johnson at once.
②——The experiment has failed！
----I suggest you try again.
考点三、suggest作“表明、说明、暗示、指出”解，而且后面跟that从句作宾语时，宾语从句中的谓语动词用陈述语气。例如：
①He often came to the theater，but his attitude suggested he was not really interested in the play.
②Jane's pale face suggested that she was ill，and her parents suggested that she have a medical examination.
例②中第一个suggested作“表明、说明”解，所以其后的宾语从句的谓语动词用陈述语气；第二个suggested的意思是“建议”，所以其后的宾语从句的谓语动词用虚拟语气，其中的should被省略了。
考点四、在下列含suggest的句式中，如果suggest表示“建议”时，其后的宾语从句的谓语动词仍然用虚拟语气。
句式一、It's suggested that……（有人建议……）例如：
①It's suggested that we（should）put on a short play at the party.有人建议我们在晚会上演一个短剧。
②It has been suggested that Robert should go to Chicago and try to find a job there.有人建议罗伯特到芝加哥去，设法在那里个工作。
句式二、What（All that）sb.suggests is that……（某人建议的是……）例如：
①What I suggest is that we visit a class right away.我的建议是我们马上去听课。
②What she suggested was that the clinic should make better use of those herbs.她建议医
疗站更好地利用那些草药。
考点五、名词suggestion的用法。
suggestion作“建议”解，后面跟同位语从句时，以及suggestion用作主语，后面跟表语从句时，从句中的
谓语动词均用虚拟语气。例如：
①My suggestion is that the work should be started at once.我的建议是立即动工。
②The monitor's suggestion that she should come another day has not been accepted.班长
提出的她改天来的建议还是没有被接受。

高考英语词汇：使用suggest的用法及使用错点错点一误用不定式作宾语
要表示汉语的“建议做某事”，英语通常用suggest doing sth，而不能用suggest to do sth。如：
他建议坐飞机去，可我认为这样花费太大。
正：He suggested going by plane,but I thought it would cost too much.
误：He suggested to go by plane,but I thought it would cost too much.
汤姆建议把房子卖了，但是安表示反对。
正：Tom suggested selling the house but Ann was against it.
正：Tom suggested to sell the house but Ann was against it.
错点二误接不定式的复合结构作宾语
汉语通常说“建议某人做某事”，但英语习惯上不能说suggest sb to do sth，而说suggest sb’s[sb]doing sth。也就是说，suggest后不仅不接不定式，而且也不接不定式的复合结构。如：
他建议我们早点动身。
正：He suggested that we leave earlier.
误：He suggested us to leave earlier.
当然，我们也可以用后接that从句的形式来表达此意思(注意谓语用“should+动词原形”这样的虚拟语气形式)。如：
I suggest that we(should)have lunch right now.我建议我们现在就吃午饭。
He suggests that we should all go to see the film.他建议我们都去看电影。
比较以下同义表达：
他建议他们在没有听到事实真相之前什么都别说。
正：He suggested(should)not saying anything till they heard the facts.
正：He suggested saying nothing about it till they heard the facts.
正：He suggested that they shouldn’t say anything till they heard the facts.
错点三混用其后宾语从句的语气
suggest后接宾语从句时，从谓语既可用陈述语气，也可用虚拟语气，其区别与suggest 所表示的意思有关：
1.若suggest表示“建议”，则其后接的that从句谓语通常用“(should)+动词原形”这样的虚拟语气形式。如：
I suggested that she should go home.我建议她回家去。
She suggested that I(should)be the leader.她提议由我来做领导人。
2.若suggest表示“暗示”“意指”“表明”等义，则其后接的that从句要用陈述语气。如：
What he said suggested that he was a cheat.他说的话表明他是个骗子。
Are you suggesting that I’m not suited for the job?你的意思是说我不适合做这工作?
错点四其后误接双宾语
要表示向某人提出某情况，suggest后不能接双宾语，即不能用suggest sb sth，而通常用suggest sth to sb。如：
我向她提出一个解决问题的办法。
正：I suggested a way out to her.
误：I suggested her a way out.
若其中的直接宾语比较复杂(比如是that从句)时，可考虑改用suggest to sb sth。如：我向他建议我们应该用另一种方式处理这个问题。
正：I suggested to him that we should tackle the problem another way.
误：I suggested him that we should tackle the problem another way.
错点五忽略相关派生名词的相关用法
按英语习惯，suggest的派生名词suggestion也具有与其词根动词相似的用法，如当
suggestion表示“建议”时，若其后接一个that引导的宾语从句，则该从句也习惯上要用“should+动词原形”这样的虚拟语气。如：
The suggestion that shops should open on Sundays led to a heated discussion.关于商店星期日也应该营业的提议，引起了激烈的争论。
suggest的名词There was a suggestion that Brown should be dropped from the team.有一项建议是布朗应该离队。
