一是区位十分优越。巩义位于中国的中部，位于九朝古都洛阳和河南省会郑州之间，南边接壤功夫的发源地少林寺，北边接壤太极的发源地陈家沟。中华民族的母亲河——黄河沿境而过。连接中国和欧洲的亚欧大陆桥设有巩义站，近年来发展很快的高铁也在境内设有车站。
The first is the extremely superior location of our city. Gongyi lies in the center of China. Located between Zhengzhou, the Capital of Henan Province and Luoyang, the ancient capital of nine dynasties, it neighbors Shaolin Temple——the birthplace of Kungfu—in the
South and Chenjiagou Site—the origin of Tai Chi—in the North. Yellow River, the Mother River of Chinese Nation, flowing along its border. There is a railway station in Gongyi along the Eurasian Continental Bridge that connects China and Europe. In recent years, with the rapid development of high-speed railway, a new high-speed railway station has been set in Gongyi either.
二是历史非常悠久。巩义的双槐树遗址，距今已经有5000多年的历史，出土的蚕型牙雕为寻丝绸之路的起源提供了新证据。公元前249年，中国第一个封建王朝秦朝在这里设巩县。中国古代历史经济、文化、教育最繁荣的朝代——宋朝，所有的皇帝均埋葬在巩义。
The second is the long history. The Double Locust Tree Site in Gongyi has a history of more than 5,000 years. The Silkworm-shaped Ivory Carving excavated at that site provides new proof for the origin of the Silk Road. In 249BC, Qin Dynasty—the first feudal dynasty of China—set Gong County in Gongyi. Besides, Song Dynasty, which had the most prosperous economy, culture and education in the ancient history of China, buried all of its emperors in Gongyi.
三是文化十分灿烂。世界文化名人——杜甫就诞生在巩义；北魏石窟是中国九大石窟之一，其“帝后礼佛图”属国内绝品；黄冶窑址是中国目前发现生产唐三彩时间最早、持续时间最长、窑址面积最大、产品数量最多的一处窑址；铁生沟汉代冶铁在世界上首次采用球墨铸铁技术，比其它国家早2000多年。
The third is the splendid culture. Du Fu, a famous poet and world cultural celebrity, was born in Gongyi. As one of nine major grottoes in China, the “Emperor and Empress Worshipping of the Buddha Grottoes” of the North Wei Dynasty Grotto are top-class grottoes in China.
