A grand gathering celebrating the centenary of the Communist Party of China was held at Tian'anmen Square at the heart of Beijing on Thursday.
天安门广场上，人民英雄纪念碑巍然矗立。纪念碑北侧，中国共产党党徽和“1921”“2021”字标格外醒目。广场东西两侧，100面红旗迎风招展。
各族各界人士7万余人出席庆祝大会，天安门广场响起昂扬奋进的经典歌曲，抒发对党的热爱和祝福。
空中护旗梯队悬挂党旗和巨幅标语飞过，四个“万岁”刷屏全网：
“伟大的中国共产党万岁！
伟大的中华人民共和国万岁！
伟大的中国人民万岁！
全国人民大团结万岁！”
直升机、战斗机分别组成“100”“71”字样掠过长空。
Military aircraft flew over Tian'anmen Square in echelons. Helicopters flew in the formation of "100," representing the 100 years of the Party.
15架歼-20飞机组成3个梯队呼啸而过，10道彩烟辉映长空庆祝建党百年。
100响礼炮响彻云霄，国旗护卫队官兵护卫着五星红旗，从人民英雄纪念碑行进至广场北侧升旗区。
A 100-gun salute was fired. A national flag-raising ceremony was held.
国旗护卫队俯拍画面震撼人心！
从人民英雄纪念碑到国旗杆220米的距离，国旗护卫队由齐步、正步、齐步各100步完成。
全场齐声高唱中华人民共和国国歌，五星红旗冉冉升起，在天安门广场上空高高飘扬。
这一刻，就是我们期盼的盛世中华！

今天就是7月1日建党节，也是我党成立100周年的纪念日。我们每天都在新闻联播等视频、音频中听到各类关于中国共产党的新闻与名词，但你知道这些名词的英文该如何表达么？

中国共产党
the Communist Party of China (CPC)
其实，最早的时候中国共产党的英文并非CPC ，而是the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)。这是因为我党刚成立的时候，接受共产国际的领导，是位于中国的共产党。
但到了1943年共产国际解散后，中国共产党的性质发生了变化，成为了属于中国的共产党，因此用of China 来代替Chinese，作为更确切的表达。

中国共产党创建于1921年7月23日，但由于当时国内外局势紧张，便没有特别纪念这一天。到
了1938年抗日战争期间，在《论持久战》中写道“今年七月一日，是中国共产党建立的十七周年纪念日”，于是便将每年的7月1日定为“党的生日”，直到70年代根据专家考证才确认7月23日才是党的确切生日，但7月1日这一纪念日却被一直保留了下来。
