Water Pollution
With the rapidly progress of industries and the development of societies, water pollution, which is growing, will become more intense and more complex in the future. What’s worse, it has to pose a major threat to human being’s health, economic and living environment.
Actually, there are three kinds of water pollution. They are the source of industrial pollution, the source of agriculture pollution and the source of life sewage. For example, our increasing pollution will largely increase urban wastewater. Moreover, to feed our growing population, agriculture will have to be intensified and this will involve agricultural chemicals. On the other hand, rapidly expending industries which involve more and more complex chemical processes, will produce a largely quantity of wastewater which contains noxious chemicals. What’s more, the wastewater will change the chemical composition of soil, results in crop pollution and finally human will become the “foothold” of the noxious chemicals.
According to a survey, in our China, about 1/3 industrial wastewater and 90% of the untreated sewage discharged into rivers. At present, more than 850 rivers and 90% of the urban waters are contaminated. Pollution is form shallow to deep. Groundwater is also contaminated.
water pollution
According to the survey of the world authority, in the development countries, there are 8% of various types of the diseases causes by unsanitary drinking water and results at least 20 million deaths in the world. The water pollution was known as “the world NO.1 killer”.
From this, we must take some drastic steps to solve the pollution problem.
There are two ways to solve the pollution problems. First, relates to the treatment of wastewater to diminish the danger of it. This involves the processing of the disposal of solid wastes and the treatment of liquid wastes, which permit the reuse of the water. A second method is to develop an economic use for all or a part of the wastes. Effluents form sewage disposal plants are used in some areas for irrigation. Effluents from other processing plants may also be used as a supplement source of water.
At present, people had realized that that we can’t undermine the environment to the economic development. Now, China has sent up the strategy of sustainable economic development and protection of people’s physical health. We should never repeat the “development with pollution”pattern that other development countries have gone through.
