The author was able to make use of various similes, metaphors and other literary techniques to construct the scenes in this novel. For instance, the image of a “twinkling sky full of stars” was used to describe the night sky, while the sound of flowing water was used to depict the tranquility of a winter evening. These images were incredibly powerful and they really helped me to appreciate the beauty of the natural world.
